A reality show 'Project Runway' competition ranged from designing and making a garment from items found in an apartment to designing a gown for Miss USA Tara Conner.

Seeing Miss USA wear the gown, designed and sewed on worldwide television put Kayne Gillaspie on cloud nine.

People in 77 countries saw the gown as Miss USA made it to the top five among the international beauties.

Another event in May and June was a trip to Paris, Gillaspie's first trip outside the US and in the competition they were to design and fabricate a couture gown.

His gold corseted gown didn't score well with the judges on the show.

Gillaspie got his sweet revenge when the Bravo network put the competition gowns up for auction and his gown was sold for $1,900, several hundred more than any other of the gowns.

Gillaspie consistently received favorable comments from the judges for his understanding of the female form and his ability to construct the garments.

He is most proud of the garment he produced when challenged to create a modern design for a pop icon. Gillaspie drew the name of Marilyn Monroe.

He felt that it was one of the most creative fabrications, using leather and stretch black sheer over nude fabric.

It was the most challenging and risk taking of the designs and he felt good about it.

He got great praise for it, but then he still didn't win the challenge.
