Conventional designs clinch top awards

During Style Pasifika Awards traditional designs clinched the top awards.

Brisbane-based New Zealander Tallulah Filloy impressed judges with her design winning the Supreme Award for Te Moko, a unique interpretation of a traditional Maori woman's costume and traditional Maori moko, which combined a wool/cashmere blend dress base with feathers and bamboo.

Filloy had earlier claimed this title in 2004.

Tauranga designer Kerry Funnell was named Overall Runnerup with her Afterglow collection featuring three suits made from merino wool, jacquard and wool crepe, inspired by Maori carving designs.

Among other awards announced Alison and Karen Reid were honored award Highly Commended.

Among category Winners, Tallulah Filloy award of Traditionally Inspired; Kerry Funnell received Three-piece Winner; Alison and Karen were thrilled with Reid Asia-Pasifika Winner.

Many other awards such as Hero Winner was awarded to Jane Leuii; Streetwear Winner to Keri Wanoa and Hemi Sundgren; Evening Winner to Michal Suebakk; Menswear Winner to Rubi Taitu'uaga ; Bridal Winner to Alla Sosnovskaia ; Parent and Child Winner to Belinda Hunt.
