Mayor Tom Potter inaugurated Portland Fashion Week on October 20 at top floor of “Stinky Pinky”, US Bancorp Tower, which aims at publicizing Portland as a hub of sustainable fashion design.
Alice Dobson's Sofada line started off Portland's final week of fashion for the year, along with Janine Gibbons' jewellery and Visage Eyewear.
Dobson, a veteran of last year's New York Fashion Week, put on display spring pieces that continued in the vein of classic wearability, with crisp whites and sunny polka dots, bright florals, stripes, and dashes of red and lightweight denim.
Her bathing suits, including a strapless green and white tropical print, cut to look vintage, scored maximum points. Options were galore in menswear section which included Black Fox and Duchess.
"OSU Fashion Night" provided an exciting platform to view designs from students, faculty, and alumni of Oregon State University's Department of Design and Human Environment.
The Week's finale was a melting pot of styles featuring collections from Urban Metallics, Kicklet Kreations, Adriana Couture, Urban Girl NW, Leanimal, DoubleCross Belt Co., Magalí Corzo and Eden Dawn Apparel.
New look of Portland Fashion Week boasts a lengthy, professional looking runway with a clean white backdrop. There are several bars set up throughout, in addition to a table selling snacks like quiche and desserts.
