'Textile Gems of the Caucasus' exhibition is being held by Concord Art Association between November 9 and November 26 this year. It will display rugs from a collection by Rosalie and Mitchell Rudnick.
Main features of Rudnick's collections comprising 19th century rugs from Caucasus area are being presented at the expo.
Rudnick's zeal for rugs started 20 years back. They toured widely across US, Europe and Asia to study the sophistication of these elegant textiles, also visiting Caucasus in Russia.
They have always engaged themselves in the field of textiles. Rosalie Rudnick is a master rug restorer who played a lead role in establishing New Boston Rug Society, now known as New England Rug and Textile Society.
Curator Jo Kris Powell will be heading a gallery discussion before inaugurating the exhibition.
Simultaneously another show 'Wearable to Wall Art: A celebration of Fibre!' will be running in lower galleries, displaying collections of artists who work on cotton, silk and wool and implement various techniques like weaving, felting and knitting. Hats, scarves, sweaters, wall hangings, sculpture and rugs will be exhibited.
