Political leaders kept aside the issues of the world concluding the Pacific Rim summit, and lightened up the mood by draping the traditional Vietnamese 'ao dai' over their western formals and posing for the eager photographers.

While male honoraries, including US and Russian Presidents George W. Bush and Vladimir Putin, chose to wear sky-blue ao dai, the women executives flaunted pinks.

This posing in traditional clothing representing of the host country started when the leaders first wore leather bomber jackets at debut APEC summit in Seattle in 1993. Since then, the prominent names have been seen in Indonesian batik, Filipino barong and Chilean ponchos.
