Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) Handicap International collaborated with Vikalang Himayat Juth to put together a fashion show at Prerna Bharati Gandhinagar, Gujarat, that displayed collections by physically handicapped designers.
Besides, the clothes were modeled by 12 girls and 5 young guys from institutes for disabled!
Each and every participant gladly strutted down in various exquisite creations, some supported by props while few on wheelchairs.
Jewelry designer applicant, Puja Mehta, stressed, “Such fashion shows organized for the disabled gives them confidence. By participating in such shows, they also feel that they are like any other normal person. More such shows should be planned so that it can prepare and encourage them for other shows.”
NGO sources explained that since they respected themselves, this event was part of a process to make a mark in the society.
