Kashmiri artifact showcased in handicraft expo

Handicrafts Expo showcases hundreds of exquisite artifacts including shawls, papier-mâché wood carving, carpets and other varieties with rich designs, colour, texture of various states of India.

Jammu & Kashmir is famous for its cottage industry and also for its skillful and high caliber artists and workmen's artwork. The economic growth of the state depends on cottage industry.

J&K Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad inaugurated "Kashmir Handicraft Expo-2007" at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, organized by the J&K Apex Marketing Federation and Industrial Cooperatives.

Azad also inaugurated an exhibition Royal Pashmina organized exclusively for the promotion of Pashmina shawls.

The State's Handloom Development Corporation and Delhi Crafts Council are engaged in development and promotion of Handicrafts and Handloom in the state.
