Dhaka International Trade Fair 2006 (DITF) at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar has witnessed rise in sale of jute products, but firms exhibiting jute goods have expressed requirement of better government assistance to enhance exports.

About 25 enterprises under Bangladesh Jute Mill Corporation (BJMC) are exhibiting their products in this fair having one month duration, which is much more than just six firms last year.

Further, 23 diversified jute product makers are participating with the help of Jute Diversification Promotion Centre (JDPC) which is a government undertaking. On display at DITF are various jute items such as bags, wallets, showpieces, garments, shawls, shoes and carpets.

Total 418 companies are taking part in this event, of which about 53 are international ones from seven different countries. DITF will close on January 2, 2007.
