A sari exhibition called 'Pongal Sale' was arranged by office of Commissioner of Handlooms and Textiles, Kuralagam on January 6, 2007. Works of Tamil Nadu's weavers were on sale.

There were attractive cotton saris with embroidery from Coimbatore along with salwar materials costing Rs218. Kora cotton saris in price range of Rs250-Rs1,300 and pure cotton saris were displayed at the Chennai stall.

Saris in various shades and combinations filled up the silk section at this two day expo. Silk saris with multicoloured borders costing Rs6,000 onwards were brought from Thirubuvanam.

Saris featuring figure works in 'pallus', with a starting price of Rs20,000, were special attractions. People were amused by silk saris devoid of zariwork at the Thirubuvanam stall.

Kancheepuram silk saris having meena work and thread work bordered with zari were available. There was huge discount of 35 to 45 percent on varieties of silk saris.
