One of the oldest cities Miag-ao with its beautiful setting and well-preserved architecture is situated in the province of Iloilo.

The traditional event 'Salakayan' Festival will be celebrated from February 4 to 11, 2007 to showcase Miag-ao's brilliant culture and history.

Weaving out of plant fibre is one of the earliest methods of cloth making in Miag-ao. Miag-ao's craft of patadyong and hablon weaving has a long tradition of local patronage which reflect the town's distinct identity.

Here women have preserved traditional art forms in colorful and geometric designs. Now they have incorporated diamonds, squares, and stripes typical of Indag-an designs in their fabrics.

They make handcrafted materials such as decorator fabrics like table runners, place mats, curtains, cushion covers and even bed sheet covers.
