An Informal and Elegant Streetwear Style Reigns Supreme: The trends elaborated by the Balearic Islands Institute for Business Innovation (IDI) for TEXTILMODA have been organised into four essential themes: Gentle Severity, Pleasant Protection, Stylish Elegance and Resolute Freedom. These themes will define the colours and textures that are likely to predominate throughout the new season.
An informal yet highly elegant streetwear style will triumph during the Autumn-Winter 2008/9 Season. A sense of imagination will play a key role, accompanied by mixed colours, combined materials and a series of unique shapes and details.
With regard to colour, we will comes across an extremely bright range, featuring red, orange, green and blue, whilst black and grey combined with metallic finishes will also play a leading role throughout the season. The ultimate goal will be to achieve a subtle, fragile and multi-ethnic elegance, one that is free of any kind of ostentation.
Gentle Severity: Soft and natural materials will stand out, combined with artificial elements such as satin and nylon. Wool and textiles inspired by English tailoring will also play a prominent role, achieving a pure and urban image.
With regard to patterns, small checks will triumph, along with stripes and small details featuring letters and jacquards, all based on a strong British flavour. The favourite accessories in this style will be large buttons and belts. Clothing items will become smaller and tighter, creating a delicate and informal style. We will find a predominant use of grey, blue and green, as well as brown.
