Four popular zones have returned: Body and Intimate Wear Zone, Bridal and Evening Wear Zone, the Garment and Accessories Mart and Fashion Gallery, which spotlights the high fashion around the world and the work of more than 50 designers from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea and Taiwan.
Another fair highlight will be the July 12 staging of the Hong Kong New Fashion Collection Award 2007. The competition, now in its seventh year, encourages Hong Kong companies to work with local designers in building brand collections. Twelve contestants are competing in three categories: the Casual and Jeans-wear Group, the Office Attire Group and the Formal Attire Group. Five prizes will be awarded, including the Best Collection Award from each category, the Best Application of Technology Award and the Overall Winner Award.
Alongside with fashion shows and parades, the TDC has organised seven professional seminars to provide industry players with up-to-date market intelligence. Hot topics include fashion, colour and fabric trends, as well as marketing trends in Chinese mainland fashion.
A new customised sourcing service is also being introduced. It will help buyers locate the exhibitors and suppliers they need with precision and ease.
Joining Mr Leung at today's opening ceremony were the Hon. Frederick Ma, Hong Kong's Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, and Mr Fred Lam, Executive Director of the TDC.
Fashion is one of Hong Kong'smost important industries. Total exports of clothing and accessories increased 3.6 per cent to US$10.1 billion in the first five months of 2007, with the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany the top three markets.
