Jointly organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (TDC), the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association Ltd and the Federation of Hong Kong Watch Trades and Industries Ltd, this year's Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair will gather more than 800 exhibitors from 18 countries and regions. The Chinese mainland, Korea and Taiwan will feature group pavilions.

"The fair's Brand Name Gallery will showcase 110 prestigious brands and designer collections, up more than 14 per cent over last year. The popular Asian Watch Conference will also be held during the fair period. Taking place September 8, the Asian Watch Conference features Jean-Daniel Pasche, President of the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry FH, as keynote speaker," said Raymond Yip, Assistant Executive Director of TDC.

Mini-watch parades will also be held throughout the fair period, highlighting some of the outstanding designs from exhibitors.

"Hong Kong watch and clock exports totalled HK$22 billion in the first six months of 2007, up 5.2 per cent over last year," said Bob Wai, Co-Chairman of the Fair Organising Committee. Southeast Asian exports were up nearly 17 per cent over the same period. Hong Kong is now the second-largest watch and clock exporter in the world, with exports to the United States and Europe making up 40 per cent of the total.
