Kerala to present Octave-2008 in March

God's own country Kerala has decided to host the eight-day long cultural festival 'Octave-2008' in March 2008. The gala event will showcase handicrafts, art and culture of the north-eastern states.

Union Culture and Tourism Department, Kendra Sangeet Natak Academy and Kerala Culture Department have joined hands to organise the event.

In the fest, people of Kerala will get a chance to be introduced to the art, handloom and handicraft of north-eastern states like Assam, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur and Sikkim.

Cane and bamboo works from Tripura, various silk varieties like endi, muga and pala of Assam, Arunachali Bead necklaces, Tasi Tagi wood carvings, candle stands, carpets, bamboo work, pottery, Angami traditional necklace from Nagaland, artistic weavings from the abode of clouds - Meghalaya, shawls, bags, ladies garments of Mizoram, gems and jewelry, carpet and flooring of Manipur will be presented at the event.
