The company aims to enhance exports through facilitation, technology up-gradation, skills development and marketing/branding.
Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC), Mr. Fawad H.Khan said that Pakistan's current Gems and Jewellery exports stand at 40 Million Dollars approximately which can be increased through concerted efforts in skills development, technology up gradation & marketing/branding.
The CEO said that PGJDC'S target is to increase Gems and Jewellery sector exports up to 500 Million Dollars by 2011and up to 1.5 Billion Dollars by 2017.
He further stated that the government was actively focusing on the development of Gems and Jewellery sector. Pakistan would continue to participate actively in such exhibitions across the world in order to explore the export potential for Pakistani Gems and Jewellery sector.
Mr. Fawad H. Khan said that Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company is working on Initiatives, such as exploration of proposed sites through Geological Survey of Pakistan, Gems/Jewellery Exchanges, Gem Identification/Certification Labs, Assaying/Hallmarking Centers, Gems and Jewellery Common Facility Training Manufacturing Centers (CFTMCs),Training Seminars/Programs, Marketing/Branding through participation in International Shows ,launching local trade shows, market studies and surveys.
