Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company took a delegation of thirty six (36) delegates from gems and jewellery trade to the 24th International India Jewellery Show (IIJS) held in Mumbai from August 30 to September 03, 2007.
This visit provided an opportunity to PGJDC and to the trade to develop contacts and relationship with the Indian counterparts so that common grounds of co-operation be ascertained to take the relationship to the next level.
This visit also provided the opportunity to visit training institutes to get an insight on their organization and training curriculum and factories to learn their manufacturing processes.
This visit was an immense learning experience for both the trade and company executives. Very fruitful meetings were held with Cibjo (The World Jewellery Confederation), World Gold Council, GJEPC and possibilities of joint ventures.
Had a meeting with Cibjo President, Mr. Dr. Gaetano Cavaheri. He informed that Cibjo will have a positive response to PGJDC's application for Cibjo's membership. In this respect he wishes to visit Pakistan as a guest and meet the stakeholders.
In our meeting with World Gold Council we extended invitation to them to start their activities in Pakistan and got a positive response.
Meeting with Mr. Sanjay Kothari, Chairman GJEPC and its board was extremely cordial. They expressed their desire to bring in a delegation to Pakistan by end November 2007. We agreed to endeavor to facilitate their visit.
