"Godfather of Street Chic" Christian Audigier will add a special French twist to L.A. Fashion Week when he presents his 2008 Spring Collection "La Vie En Rose" at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Show in the main tent at Smashbox in Culver City on October 16th at 4 P.M.
Inspired by the United States' liberation of France in 1944, Audigier's latest collection pays homage to the beauty of his French roots and the ingenuity of his adopted American homeland.
The influence of French and American style and sensibility upon each other's culture after the war can still be felt in art, music, and, especially, fashion.
Audigier's much-anticipated show will be reminiscent of 1940s France by incorporating architectural landmarks as part of the set, exploiting the visual appeal of men in uniforms, and reproducing the highly stylized looks of Marlene Dietrich and chanteuse Edith Piaf.
The feel, including accentuated pencil-thin eyebrows, may be post-war, but the fashion will be 100% modern. "My collection," states Christian Audigier, "is based on a vision that celebrates the full spectrum and exuberance of American lifestyle culture, which includes rap, pop and rock 'n' roll."
