Bangladesh got lucky to receive export orders worth US $3.29 million in the single country trade fair held in Tokyo from October 22-25.
The event was organized by the state-run Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) with the technical assistance of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).
It was after nearly eight years that Bangladesh arranged for this Single Country Trade Fair in Tokyo. Local businessmen were not only delighted with the announcement of the event but also expressed keen interest in participation.
While, export orders of $1.00 million were procured by about five Bangladeshi companies, nine other received prospective orders valued at $2.29 million. The products for export include leather shoes and handicrafts, jute handicrafts, bed cushion and ready-made garments.
Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Japan (BCCIJ) is to visit Bangladesh soon for organizing Japanese Single Country Trade Fair in Dhaka from November 29 to December 1, this year.
