Zimbabwe is all set to stage its first Ethno-Design-Fashion week in Harare from December 5 to 8. The event will primarily emphasize on ethnic and ecological designing that rests entirely on innovation and creativity.
The event featuring various activities including exhibitions, lectures, retail fashion initiatives and business opportunities within the fashion industry, will be organized by local fashion designers, Black Scissors.
Another major reason behind organizing this exhibition is to cater to the growing audience of international brands and buyers. Both international and local designers are to participate in the fashion week. Besides, the event will also feature an event called "Ethno-Eco Fashion and the streets" to portray the relationship between humans and ecological creations.
Organizing the event was an inspiration from the successes achieved by Zwangendaba and his partner Peter Rabvukwa who recently held a fashion show in Johannesburg, South Africa where they presented their tribal fusion fashion collection. Zwangendaba was short-listed for the Global Young Social Entrepreneurs' 2007 Awards.
