The second Eurasia Trade Bridge Summit that commenced on December 4, was a huge success and saw the participation by countries like Russian Federation, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyztan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Mongolia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Uzbekistan.
Held at the Wow Convention Center, the summit was attended by more than 20 foreign and Deputy Ministers and nearly 392 guest companies. Inaugurated by the Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSKON), the event brought together 500 businessmen from 12 Eurasian countries and 1,500 local entrepreneurs.
This summit is the fifth well-attended meeting held so far and was supported by the Turkish Foreign Trade Under secretariat, Turkish Foreign Ministry, Turkish Assembly of Exporters (TIM), the General Secretariat of Istanbul Textile & Apparel Exporter Associations (ITKIB), the Istanbul Exporter Unions (IIB), the Aegean Exporter Unions (EIB) and the Uludag Exporters Union (UIB), the Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA), the Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) and the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.
The main objective of the summit was to attain $1 billion in business links. However, experts are of the opinion that the actual target was to boost exports, especially textile, from Turkey to 12 Eurasian countries and procure $15 billion.
Over the years TUSKON has been motivating medium-sized Turkish enterprises to step into international trade with its ever so inspiring slogan 'Our playground is the entire world'.
