House of Holland, which has become part of London's new wave scene, attracting many celebrity fans such as Sienna Miller and championed by his old friend and British Model of the Year Agyness Deyn; and Poltock & Walsh, who have both enjoyed success working for Alexander McQueen and John Richmond respectively, launched their label in 2006 with a debut Spring/Summer '07 collection.
Accessory designers benefiting from the New Gen scheme for the first time are Anna Vince, 'Collection of the Year' winner at Graduate Fashion Week 2001; Charlotte Olympia, designed by Charlotte Dellal; her shoes are classic, balanced pieces with intelligent twists reminiscent of '40s Hollywood; Justin Smith, who has established two labels – 'J Smith Esquire' and 'Mr Smith' since 2005 and Nicholas Kirkwood, who has designed for celebrated brands such as Chloe and Swarovski.
Hilary Riva, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council commented “New Gen continues to support the rising stars of British fashion.
This season's recipients were carefully chosen from a long list of talented designers who applied for this prestigious sponsorship scheme by a panel comprising press, buyers, the British Fashion Council and Topshop.
The high quality of applicants is a positive indication of the great talent that will emerge from the UK in the next few years”
Caren Downie, Topshop Buying Director adds: "We're extremely excited to continue our support of the New Gen scheme, and believe that the calibre of recipients reflects the extraordinary level of design talent in London.
This season's line-up promises to enhance the profiles of those already enjoying huge popularity, and to introduce some hotly anticipated and diverse names to wide, international audience."
