Trade ties get better at Iranian expo

The exhibition at the Convention Centre, Colombo is an opportunity for Sri Lankan people to become familiar with Iranian nation, economy and culture. The ongoing expo gives a unique opportunity to the local enterprises and industrial entities to establish strong ties with Iranian counterparts.

Almost 60 Iranian companies from state, private and cooperatives sectors have participated to showcase their products like, handicrafts, carpets, leather products and chinaware to the Sri Lankan public.

According to the statistics Iran's trade value last year was over US $120 billion, out of which exports with Sri Lanka stands approximately above $750 million.

Recently, the two countries have struck a deal worth nearly $1.5 billion in the fields of dam building, establishment of irrigation networks, power plants, and refineries.
