The Government News Network said that the Trade Minister Ian Pearson welcomes Cotton Conference to Liverpool.
Up to 500 key players in the international cotton industry will be in Liverpool next week for a major conference.
The 64th Plenary meeting of the International Cotton Advisory Committee will be held at St Georges Hall, Liverpool from Monday 26 September to Thursday 29 September.
This year's Plenary is expected to have the largest number of delegates from outside the host country.
Trade Minister Ian Pearson said that he would like to welcome representatives to the UK and Liverpool - a city that has long associations with the cotton industry which is so important to so many countries particularly developing countries in Africa.
Liverpool is the home of the International Cotton Association and the UK is proud to be hosting the Plenary for the fourth time - the second here in Liverpool. He wishes the delegates every success for what I am sure will be an interesting and productive Plenary meeting.
The committee is an international inter-government organisation representing 44 producer and consumer countries. The ICAC discusses policy issues relating to the industry and also looks at technical issues relating to the processing and marketing of cotton.
