The African Fashion Fair that is presently going on at the French Cultural Centre in Nairobi has given excellent opportunity to domestic as well as international artisans to display their distinct craftsmanship in front of art lovers of the city.

The Kenyan and Ugandan exhibitors are actively showcasing wide range of garments and jewellery that reflects sheer genius of the makers. Among the participants, Herbert Musisi of Chui Arts, the only male fashion designer here, is gathering lot of appreciation for his hand printed fabrics.

Herbert takes inspiration from African symbols and cultures to bring them alive on various fabrics using different textures. He still uses manual techniques for printing the fabric which gives them a personal touch and prefers keeping the designs simple for highlighting the details.

The jewellery stalls displaying wide range of ornaments made using coloured beads and semi precious stone has also become a crowd puller. Young girls are buying them in bulk due to interesting combinations and designs, right from delicate to complicated mix of materials that designers have opted for.

The participants are overjoyed with the response thay have received so far from the spectators and are hoping for the same till the exhibition lasts.
