Timeless Detour will be presented by Fashion department, Symbiosis Institute of Design on October 16 at The Auditorium, Symbiosis Vimanagar campus, Pune -14.
Timeless Detour is a confirmation of more than eight months of effort by faculty and students of SID (Symbiosis Institute of Design), who have shown sustained interest in craft and textile of different parts of India. Timeless Detour will be the first in offering such detailed insights into Indian textiles and incorporates research to conceptualize and develop fashion apparel at SID.
It probes into all aspects of handicrafts, historical, social as well as cultural influences. The institutional objective is to conserve and bring about a product diversification of the Indian textile craft.
Timeless Detour will showcase ensembles that reveal an array of crafts in India, like the Phulkari of Punjab, Kashida of Kashmir, Kullu Weaves from Himachal Pradesh, Reverse Applique' of Gujarat, Chikankari of Lucknow and Kanchipuram weaves of Tamilnadu. The project was based on extensive field work and research and maps out regional craft clusters identified across the country.
