On the World Ahimsa Day on October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Internationally renowned Goan fashion designer Wendell Rodricks will showcase his creations made by using 'Ahimsa Silk'. It is a silk fibre derived from cocoons without killing the silkworms.

These creations will be showcased in a unique event organized by Goa Handicrafts Rural and Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Limited. Designs of several other local designers created using the same fabric will also be on display in the event.

The event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister of Goa, Mr. Digambar Kamat, and will continue till October 4 at ESG art gallery. Variety of dresses, scarves, ties and lampshades will be showcased during the event.

The exhibition will also showcase the works of students of Goa College of Home Science, Government Polytechnic and Goa College of Art, along with the works of local designers.
Deriving silk without killing worm, is the technique invented in the year 1991by an Indian, Kusuma Rajaiah, who has patented this technique of deriving silk.
