Khoon Hooi, a young designer from Malaysia he is happy that the event provides a platform where I could meet both international media and powerful buyers.

The Singapore Fashion Week, now in its 18th year, has provided a feast of fashion for doyens to gorge on. Besides designers' shows and contests, there was the Asian International Textile Machinery Exhibition, the Apparel Asia (International Apparel & Accessories Exhibition), and the International Yarns, Fibres, Fabrics and Accessories Exhibition (YAFA Asia 2005).

Edward Ang, Chairman of Textile and Fashion Federation Singapore, the event's organizer confirmed that for the first time in the event they have covered the entire industry chain -from textile machinery, fibres and yarns, to finished garments and high-end fashion. The event has attracted some 1,000 exhibitors and received 80,000 visitors, many of them potential buyers.

In the InspirAsian Gala dinner and show, established Asian designers displayed their collections on stage, to further inspire young designers and audiences. Michiko Koshino, a London-based designer was one of them.

Her idea struck a chord with Dorothy Seet Poh Kim, a Singaporean businesswoman and general manager of Beijing Smart Garments Ltd, who came to do business in Beijing two decades ago. China is a growing market, and if Singapore Fashion Week wants to develop, it should attract more people from China.
