The Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing (AMHP) is a focus on the existent tradition of hand block printing, aiming to be a site of expertise for contemporary hand printing nationally & internationally.
The purpose is to enhance understanding through effective use of collections & exhibits, helping the future learn from the past.
AMHP seeks to deepen the understanding of past traditions, present circumstances, and future possibilities through a series of public programs such as lectures, demonstrations, performances and workshops, as well as exhibitions, publications, scholarly research and conservation.
Its diverse audience reaches from the general public, families, school classes and students, to museum professionals.
The museum strives to encourage active learning through observation & participation, with an on-site block printer to demonstrate his craft.
Print Progress innovation & revival 1970-2005, the exhibition currently on view at AMHP, narrates the print innovations & revivals in the local hand block printing industry, tracing the contemporary history of the craft from 1970.
AMHP also runs a full schedule of changing special exhibitions.
