Index shows top Italian home textiles, fabric makers

Seventeen furniture manufacturers from Matera, Italy, dedicated to upholstered furniture, are taking part in the Index Dubai 2005.
This is the 15th international Middle East furniture, interior design and shopfitting exhibition, started at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.
These reputed exhibitors include Natuzzi, Calia Italia, Incanto, Polform, K&L, Nonsolopelle, Euroline, Doimo Sofas, Parisi, La Meteora, Sofaland, Alfatex Italia, Piquattro, Fratelli Cornacchia, Nicoletti, New Interline, and Girardi.
Wide range of leather, suede and fabric upholstered sofas in modern, classic, contemporary styles produced in sectionals, recliners, fixed and cover removable sofas, armchairs, sofa beds, and living room furniture are on the display.
There are companies producing paddings in polyurethanefoam, polyester fibre and feathers, accessories, component parts, viscoelastic mattresses and pillows, laminated and coated fabrics, and wood frames. One company also deals in logistics.
The furniture demand in UAE would make an impressive expansion in the years to come once the large current construction projects are completed, especially in Dubai, said Dr Ferdinando Fiore, Italian Trade Commissioner in Dubai.
Italian furniture has earned good reputation in UAE and exports of $59.8 million furniture to UAE in comparison to $55.2 million in 2003 prove this fact.
