Seoul hosts Korea Fashion Design Contest 2005

Korea Fashion Association organized 'Korea Fashion Design Contest 2005' at the Textile Center in southern Seoul on November 11.

The show was a result joint effort of Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy and the Korea Federation of Textile Industries.

It sported the theme 'Fashion 2010'.

Over seven hundred guests included Cho Hwan-ik, Vice Minister of Commerce at the show.

Thirty of the 337 applicants, most of them university students and upcoming designers, were chosen to compete at this show.

Choi Ji-young won the grand prize out of 11 winners.

Winners will get the opportunity to participate in overseas exhibitions and training courses run by Esmod in Paris and the Instituto Marangoni in Italy.

Contest adjudicator and veteran designer Lee Sang-bong informed that the stress was on artistic creativity and practicality as fashion in 2010 that is expected to turn towards practical utility.
