PAPSCO sells textiles at Deepavali Bazaar

In a bid to keep a check on the rising prices during the festive season, Puducherry Agro Products, Food and Civil Supplies Corporation (PAPSCO), has opened the Deepavali Bazaar 2016 at 8 centres in Puducherry, Tamil Nadu. Under this intervention strategy, the corporation is offering a variety of products including clothing items at affordable prices.

The commodities being sold at this market are provided by PAPSCO and Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs. Government organistions such as Khadi and Village Industries Board and Pontex have also set up shops at the Deepavali Bazaar.

Close to 20 private shops have also set up their stalls, said S Vasantha Kumar, managing director of PAPSCO. He added that the commodities are being sold at a no profit, no loss basis and at reasonable prices.

PAPSCO has set up such bazaars at Kannikovil, Ariyankuppam, Bahour, Maducarai, Embalam, Thirukkanur, Madagadipet, and Villianur.

Groceries, cosmetics, sweets and crackers are also available at the Deepavali Bazaar along with textile items. Separate sections are created for different types of products at the venue and a number of items are being sold at subsidised rates. It will remain open until October 28. (KD)
