The much sought-after metal working machines represent the largest sector on offer at RESALE. Other well-represented areas include plastic processing machines, wood-working machines, packaging and construction machinery, motive power engineering and mechanical handling, measurement and testing systems as well as robotics.
In recent years, there have been major changes in the textile machine sector. "The German textile industry has shrunk until it has become healthy," says Friedrich Weber, Managing Director of Weber GmbH in Gudensberg in North Hesse and a dealer in knitters of the Karl Meyer brand, when he describes the situation.
"Whole sectors, such as the towelling manufacturers, have relocated their production and now produce in Turkey," he explains. As a result there are fewer used textile machines on the German market also because the machines are extremely durable and have long working lives. However, the demand for knitters is enormous, especially in China, Korea and Vietnam.
"The technical textile sector in Germany accounts for a market share of 15 per cent and there is still room for growth," says Weber analysing the situation. "It is often the niche products for the supplying industry which are profitable." Despite these domestic sources of income, foreign buyers provide the majority of business. "Exports currently make up 92 per cent of our business."
