The Swiss Textile Machinery Group has elected Ernesto Maurer as new president.

The position of president fell vacant after the resignation of Peter Gnägi, who has been member of the board since 2002 and president since 2013.

Maurer, who is presently CEO of SSM Schaerer Schweiter Mettler AG in Horgen, has held various management positions in leading companies during his career.

Besides Maurer, Norbert Klapper (Rieter AG), Robert Reimann (Jakob Müller AG) and Ralph von Arx (Retech AG) have been elected as the new board members. Urban Germann (Stäubli Sargans AG) will continue as vice president of the Group.

The Swiss Textile Machinery Group was established in 1940 and it celebrates 75th anniversary this year. The Group’s planned activities for this year include participation in ITMA fair in Milan, and organising workshops on “Innovation” and “Additive Manufacturing”. (RKS)
