China has a gigantic textile industry but the country badly requires stitching workers who are in short supply.

Among the nine cities facing shortage of sewing workers, Chongqing city is worst affected by their shortage and same is the case with the capital Beijing.

Sewing machines are no more being used at home since the wages paid to sewing workers are very low.

Several small and medium garment factories use outmodelled sewing machines and also their factory environment is awful for work and hence people have been avoiding this profession.

Industry insiders suggest organization must come forward and sponsor trainees on modern machines in order to boost this occupation.
