In order to bring down production costs of textile machinery, Switzerland's machinery makers were requested to shift their plants to Bangladesh. This could prove advantageous to both nations.

Swiss textile machinery manufacturers have arrived in Dhaka to attend the 4th Dhaka International Textile and Garment Machinery Exhibition. A reception was organized for them on February 1, 2007 by Switzerland Bangladesh Business Forum (SBBF).

SBBF Vice President Matin Choudhury informed the media that many Swiss textile making plants have been relocated to Asian countries for saving production costs. Hence factories could be shifted to Bangladesh also.

He added that Bangladesh, one of the top global RMG exporters, requires many types of textile machinery in huge quantity. Relocation of plants to the country will enable local production of machinery.

According to Swiss ambassador to Bangladesh Dora Rapold, economies of both nations are in harmony as Switzerland needs to import RMG and Bangladesh wants to acquire textile and apparel machinery.
