Many local manufacturers of sewing machinery are adopting technical innovations in order to speed up development of this sector.
But, since China lags behind other first-class global brands, local sewing machinery enterprises are collaborating with international firms to strengthen their technical know-how.
Take the case of Zoje Holding Group that teamed up with German-based company KSM in 2005 to produce computer embroidering machinery. On June 20 this year, Zoje successfully produced FB200 computer embroidering machine, which could compete with any of its global counterpart in quality.
However, experts sounded a warning bell and said China is still short of technicians, who account for mere two percent of total workforce. This is a severe drawback considering that in developed countries, technicians constitute around 35 percent of the personnel.
