Some of these innovations demonstrate new levels of sophistication in obtaining and applying quality-related data, but a recurring theme among exhibitors here will be the availability of testing 'essentials' – often more basic machine types performing vital functions with a combination of reliability and economy. For many Asian mills, such equipment is spot on.

Alan Little, director of the BTMA, emphasises that the UK remains a major source of textile manufacturing expertise, and this is channelled into the product developments which are most relevant to the needs of modern textile mills: “British companies have focused their R&D efforts very clearly on a number of specialised areas for which there is a readily-identifiable global demand,” he says.

“This has been reflected in increasing sales in important market areas – and there is none more important than Asia, so we are anticipating that our members showing in Singapore will maintain this momentum and build on the impact made by British companies at previous major events such as ITMA 2003, CITME and ShanghaiTex.”

From its own stand at ITMA Asia, the BTMA will provide information on its entire membership, totalling nearly 50 companies across the entire spectrum of textile processes.

HIGHLIGHTS
For fibre and yarn producers, British innovations at ITMA Asia will include a totally new range of online sensors for production monitoring, from Dent Instrumentation. Effective performance and an attractive purchase price are the twin attractions of these units.
