Twelve investors have committed $38 million to the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) near Nghe An province’s capital Vinh City since its construction began in 2016. Seven investors have received land and work on their projects is expected to begin soon. Another two plants will start operations in near future. The park’s first stage covers 83 hectares.

It will include an integrated township, an industrial park, shopping and food centre and shops and houses, according to a report in a Vietnamese news website. Designers from Singapore and Malaysia plan to build an entertainment park there with an outdoor stage and gym centre.

The park, the seventh VSIP project in Vietnam, aims to attract manufacturers of garments, agricultural products and fast-moving consumer goods. Other such parks are located in Binh Duong, Quang Ngai, Bac Ninh and Hai Phong and Hai Duong.

VSIP projects in Vietnam have drawn 750 investors from 30 countries and territories with a total investment of $10 billion, creating 200,000 jobs for local and foreign workers. (DS)
