The request was made by Andhra Pradesh industries and IT Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy during a recent meeting with commerce and textile minister Piyush Goyal.
Minister Reddy requested the Central government to consider establishing the electrical equipment zone on the 750-acre land that was previously allotted to the NTPC-BHEL power plant at the Mannavaram village in the Chittoor district, Reddy told reporters after the meeting.
The state is also looking to have its share reduced from 20 to 10 per cent in the Visakhapatnam-Chennai corridor, according to media reports.
The Indian textiles ministry issued a notification recently to set up seven PM MITRA parks as announced in the budget for fiscal 2021-22. The Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (MITRA) scheme aims to develop integrated large scale and modern industrial infrastructure facility for the entire value-chain of the textile industry.
