The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) jointly with the Korea Textile Trade Association donated 10-meter strips of 20 different fabrics to Milan-based Istituto Marangoniin, where 20 students used them to create 20 designs in May. Five such designs were recently showcased at the Milano Unica Rho 2019, Italy’s top-end textile fair.

The fabrics were produced by small to medium companies in South Korea.

Many in the South Korean textile industry expect that the long-term relationship with the fashion institute will help promote quality textiles and fabric produced from the country, according to a South Korean newswire report.

KOTRA plans to invite officials from the institute this October to meet leaders of the Korean fashion industry for stronger bilateral ties. There are currently 40 South Korean students attending Istituto Marangoni. (DS)
