To give a boost to Sino-African trade, the Asia-Africa Innovation Cooperation Center has been set up in Beijing, China. The centre is expected to become an efficient channel for Chinese and African entrepreneurs for developing businesses. China-Africa trade crossed $250 billion in 2021 despite the COVID-19 pandemic, as per China’s ministry of commerce.

The Asia-Africa Innovation Cooperation Center was established in response to Chinese President Xi Jinping’s proposal at the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in 2018 to promote innovative entrepreneurship among the youth in China and Africa, according to the Administrative Committee of Beijing Daxing International Airport Economic Zone. The committee, embassies of several African nations in China, and Chinese companies, including the Asia-Africa Silk Road International Business Co, joined hands to set up this centre.

The committee also said that the centre will go on to facilitate China-Africa cooperation in sectors such as trade, investment, science and technology, environmental protection, culture, and tourism.
