Asian ethylene plunges last week from poor demand

Ethylene prices plunged in Asia in the last week ended September 4 from poor downstream product demand in the region.

In Korea, average prices dipped by US$ 65/ton or 7.83 per cent and were assessed at US$ 765/ton in the last week, as compared to its previous week.

In Japan, average prices decreased by US$ 55/ton and were quoted at US$ 765/ton in the last week, down 6.71 per cent as against its prior week.

In SE Asia, average prices descended by US$ 50/ton and were offered at US$ 775/ton in the last week, a decrease of 6.06 per cent from its earlier week.

In NE Asia, average prices dropped by US$ 45/ton or 5.29 per cent from its previous week and were spotted at US$ 805/ton in the last week.

In India, average prices declined by US$ 50/ton and were assessed at US$ 775/ton in the last week, down 6.06 per cent vis-à-vis its prior week.
