ATIRA Eco lab to restart testing

The Eco lab at the Ahmedabad Textile Industry's Research Association (ATIRA) will be restarted for testing of all parameters related to zero discharge of hazardous chemicals (ZDHC).

The laboratory houses sophisticated instruments like GC, GC-MS, HPLC, FTIR, ICP and AAS  which are used to do tests related to eco friendliness (for RoHS, REACH, ISO, GPCB etc compliance), zero discharge of hazardous chemicals.These  equipments are also useful for testing of usage of banned azo colourants in textiles which is necessary for textile and consumer goods sector.

At Eco laboratory, various testing like trace heavy metals, banned substances like chlorophenols, pesticides, restricted  amines (azo free), polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, formaldehyde, Alkylphenols, chlorobenzenes, halogenated solvents, organotin compounds etc. will take place. 

ATIRA is a part of formulating body of the bureau of Indian standard that finalised IS 15570 regarding method of test for detection of banned azo colourants.  (RR)
