Bangladesh PM urges EU to offer GSP+ benefits after LDC graduation

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently urged the European Union (EU) to offer Bangladesh benefits under the Generalised Scheme of Preferences Plus (GSP+) to support the country following its graduation from the least developed country (LDC) status in 2026.

She said this at the signing ceremony of several agreements, including a €350-million finance contract between Dhaka and the European Investment Bank, at the EU headquarters in Brussels, a news agency reported.

European Commission Chairman Ursula von der Leyen was also present during the signing ceremony.

Hasina thanked the European Union for its humanitarian assistance for the 1.2 million Rohingyas being temporarily sheltered by Bangladesh.
