Bangladesh will attract more UK investment if business-related complexities are done away with, British prime minister's trade envoy to Bangladesh Rushanara Ali recently told commerce minister Tipu Munshi in Dhaka. If bilateral trade rises, there will be scope for cargo vessel operations, she said. Munshi sought UK investment in special economic zones and hi-tech parks.

‘Made in Bangladesh’ is a popular brand in the United Kingdom and many British businesses are interested to invest in Bangladesh, especially in the education and services sectors, Ali said.

Investment procedures have been simplified in Bangladesh while the country has been offering a gamut of facilities to attract foreign investment, Munshi was quoted as saying by Bangladeshi media reports.

There is huge scope for British investment in the country's energy, railway, telecommunications, information technology, pharmaceuticals, light engineering, services, education and readymade garment sectors, the minister added.
