Bharat Tex 2024 is a mega event put together by the industry. The event is unprecedented in terms of scale and size. It is an attempt of the industry to showcase the strength of Indian textiles across the value chain, and to present India as a destination for sourcing, and for investments, Rachna Shah, Secretary, Textiles, Government of India, said on the sidelines of an event at Bharat Tex 2024.

Depicting the 5F vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, all stakeholders connected with the textile sector, including manufacturers, buyers, people who do sourcing, retail chains, experts and policy makers are present at Bharat Tex.

“We are highlighting all the initiatives that have been taken by the Central and state governments in terms of providing an ecosystem, and also the policy framework, which is friendly, so that we can invite more and more investment into India,” Shah said.

“India has always been a strong country in terms of textiles. We have a huge and growing domestic market. We have a fairly large export market, and there is a lot of scope for growth. So, we hope this event will be able to present what all India can offer, and the feedback that we are receiving so far from the exhibitors is also extremely positive. Because whoever is visiting is finding that India has strength across the value chain, whether it is for sourcing fabric or apparel, and growing areas of man-made fibre and technical textiles as well,” Shah added.

Speaking about the Innovation Zone at Bharat Tex, she said, “We are highlighting some of the R&D work, which is happening, especially in technical textiles. It will also be bit of an eye-opener for people to know that a lot of work is happening in specialty fibre development and applications of technical textiles.”

Sustainability is also a focus, in the exhibition area, as well as in the knowledge section, because “sustainability and circularity in textiles has become an extremely important aspect.”

She termed the response to Bharat Tex 2024 from both global as well as from domestic players as “phenomenal”.
