The Canada-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CBCCI) and the Bangladesh Jute Mills Association (BJMA) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote jute products from Bangladesh in Canada.

CBCCI executive vice president Areef Rahman and BJMA chairman Mohammad Abul Hossain signed the MoU in Dhaka.

Demand for jute products in the global market, including Canada, has increased over the last decade due to a shift in consumer preference to eco-friendly products from synthetic counterparts, said Rahman.

With the availability of quality raw jute, Bangladesh is at an advantageous position to tap the growing market of jute products, he was quoted as saying by a news agency.
