Nearly 500 acres of land along the Yamuna Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida will be used for turning the area around the upcoming Jewar airport into a business hub. The project includes a 200-acre textile hub that could boost the ailing garments industry in the city. It will also house a handicrafts park and an expo mart in the same facility.
The apparel park will have space for about 300 shops and is looking to attract investment worth ₹3,000 crore as well as tourists. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) recently declared that the process to identify a consultant for the textile hub, being developed in consultation with Noida Apparel Export Cluster, has been initiated.
The project is expected to come up next year.
The authority has also finalised plans to dedicate 300 acres in the same area to set up a mall for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) along the expressway, in which 500 enterprises will be housed. The mall will be used to showcase products developed or manufactured by small units.
The authority is considering inviting registered members of the export cluster and two dozen exporters across the National Capital Region.
