On April 21, 2020, Giusy Bettoni and journalist Diana de Marsanich with Simona Roveda, editorial director and director of institutional communication LifeGate, and Marina Spadafora, Italian country coordinator of fashion revolution and currently collaborating with luxury fashion brands to implement responsible strategies in their companies, will share their experience of a call-to-action project which has brought together textile companies to manufacture PPE garments for the medical staff working in a hospital in city of Monza north of Milan.
Bettoni and Dio Kurazawa, founding partner of The Bear Scout global platform and production expert on the frontline of the war against waste, pollution, and worker exploitation, will talk about the strong links, causes, and consequences as well as our responsibility in tackling the global issues.
On April 24, 2020, Bettoni will talk with Stefania Ricci, director of the Museo Salvatore Ferragamo in Florence which has recently announced a post-COVID-19 extension of the exhibition, Sustainable Thinking, about how can fashion blend with art and innovation to promote responsible culture. The exhibition, which has been co-curated by Bettoni as well, brings together art, design, fashion, and technology to explore sustainability as a responsible mind set.
On April 24, Bettoni will speak with artist and designer, Valentino Vettori about digital sustainability. Vettori has opened the pop-up Arcadia Earth Museum (@arcadiaearth) literally and virtually immersing visitors under the sea level to exploring the ‘plastic soup’ issue with an augmented reality showcase.
On April 22, Luca Olivini, material manager of C.L.A.S.S., will unveil Future Devices, a brand-new family of digital tools that can empower the communication of sustainable messages, the education of designers and professionals as well as increase of opportunity for smart materials to be known and used.
During the week, The Smart Source - C.L.A.S.S.’ inspirational materials’ bank and samples’ eshop – will offer special promotions. Designers, students and professionals can discover, order, and test the ultimate innovations. Olivini leads the first of two talks highlighting cutting-edge smart ingredients for fashion. He will present some of the smartest materials on the market to sustainable platform VIC, Very Important Choice, which empowers circular economy by allowing responsible consumers to rent sanitised sustainable clothes.
Accademia Costume & Moda has invited Bettoni and Matteo Lavezzo, CEO of denim company Project Officina Creativa to talk about what it means to be truly sustainable beyond the hype and green washing. Titled Un-Sustainable, the talk will be aired on Teams video chat platform. The second brilliant case-history is scheduled on April 23, 2020.
Olivini will also interview the athletes of the Scott Racing Team Italia, who have teamed up with important textile companies and yarns manufacturers to develop the first sustainable hyper-performing bikers’ uniforms. A story of materials and sport where, for the first time, the athletes played a key role in the development of innovative fabrics, will be talked about.
On April 29, Bettoni will speak with Evie Evangelou, founder and president of Fashion 4 Development (F4D), and with Jeanine Ballone, head of F4D Solutions. F4D is the United Nations-related entity offering a full supply chain of solutions to those who want to create positive and meaningful change. F4D and C.L.A.S.S. have begun a solid partnership which has saw them united earlier this year for an event at the World’s Economic Forum event in Davos, Switzerland.
