Canada’s imports of blankets and travelling rugs (HSN code 6301) declined by more than 50 per cent to $21.062 million during the January–March 2025 quarter on a quarter-on-quarter basis. The country had imported blankets and travelling rugs worth $43.847 million in October–December 2024. Imports of these products typically peak during the winter months and slow down thereafter.

In the first quarter of 2025, imports slumped by 51.96 per cent quarter-on-quarter. However, they rose by 9 per cent compared to $19.315 million recorded in the first quarter of 2024, according to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.

Imports increased to $23.873 million in Q2, $40.360 million in Q3, and $43.847 million in Q4 of 2024.

Canada’s total imports of blankets and travelling rugs stood at $127.396 million in 2024, recovering from $116.476 million in 2023. Imports were valued at $150.598 million in 2021 and showed a declining trend until 2023. In 2022, the trade value was recorded at $144.110 million.

About 84.38 per cent of Canada's imports of blankets and travelling rugs in Q1 2025 came from the Asia-Pacific region. Europe and North America contributed 8.10 per cent and 6.40 per cent respectively. Canada’s imports from the Asia-Pacific region were valued at $17.772 million, from Europe at $1.706 million, and from North America at $1.348 million, as per Texpro.

Country-wise analysis indicates that China was the largest supplier, accounting for $12.874 million or 61.12 per cent of the total imports. Imports from India stood at $1.870 million (8.88 per cent), Cambodia $1.686 million (8.01 per cent), the United States $1.210 million (5.75 per cent), and Portugal $1.157 million (5.50 per cent).
